    Hi Abdullah,

Almost everybody I know is using VSCode with Code for i extension for coding nowadays. There are some IBM products too of course.

I think it is better to ask your question in the specialized community like:

    Dear Abdullah

There is a discussion group for IBM i here which is a better place for you to ask the question:   https://community.ibm.com/community/user/power/communities/community-home?CommunityKey=f0246bc4-08f3-43c5-a7f8-b6a64d387894

It would be better if you also indicate which programming language(s) is you main focus.  I'll assume free-format RPG for now.  If you still use column-sensitive version of RPG III, IV, stick to PDM or use GUI from IBM Eclipse-based IDE from IBM Rational Developer for i.

My 33-year experience with IBM i tells me that one of the best positions to look for the answer to your question is to look at the prevalent application development tool of the day or one that you or your tram (or your future team) is proficient in (or decidedly intend to be) and see if it also supports application development in IBM i.    For example, one good candidate now is using IBM i extension and DB2 for i extension (2 separate components) for MS Visual Studio Code, the information of which can be found here:

Using VS Code to develop C, COBOL and RPGLE at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRI7K8Y7cjQ      (more on Youtube with "code ibm i" - there are many in the result)

You can find more about IBM i and DB2i extension for MS VS Code by Googling with "ibm i vs code extension" and "db2 i vs code extension".
