  • 1.  clustered bar chart - column color

    Hello everyone,
    I created a clustered bar chart that shows the variance of effort of a project as a Y axis and the date as an X axis. 
    How can I create a column bar with different colors (e.g. red fill color if Y<0 and green if Y>=0)?
    I created a field that returns the color code based on the values of Y and I assigned it to the item color property, but nothing happens (the columns are always the same color).
    Any help would be welcome.

    Could you attach a copy of your report spec or sample report spec. I would want to see what chart engine you are trying to use.

    thank you for reply. I attached you three images, one to show you how I tried to set column bar color (Page Design.jpg), one with the color field definition (Query Design.jpg) and one with a report preview (Report Preview.jpg).

    I've attached a sample report spec, using 11.0.13, showing two different options.

    Option 1 - uses a union approach, but you have limited control over the palette colors. However, with 11.1.1 you can create a custom palette.

    Option 2 - uses a conditional palette with our Cognos 10 chart engine.
