  • 1.  Changing port to 443

    Posted 02/17/20 09:54 AM
We have been requested to redirect port 80 to port 443.  Was told it was setup this way prior to out last upgrade to Cognos 11.  Does anyone know what (if anything) could potentially break when this change is made?  For example, report short cuts, etc. Is the change needed in IIS as well as Cognos Configuration? Thanks for any feedback

    Hi Betina,

You may make changes to use SSL only on IIS and will work. It is not necessary to make on dispatchers and content installation.

But you should certify that users will connect to Cognos only by Gateway

    Regards.

Thanks so much for your reply, Jeam.  If changes are made for this and we currently have reports with shortcuts using http instead of https will this cause an issue with http shortcuts?

You better test this.  I believe web servers can be configured to either permit or deny non-TLS (http instead of https) requests.

Since you are moving to TLS, please consider turning on HTTP/2 as per this recent blog https://community.ibm.com/community/user/businessanalytics/blogs/jason-tavoularis1/2020/02/18/faster-dashboards-with-http2

Actually using 443 port fixed issue with Events not working.
