    I must note that I have reset it using that super-small Service Processor reset switch in order to reset the ASMI password (it came used so I couldn't retrieve it) and yet I still cannot login using ASMI using admin/admin account, or any other account.

    Perhaps these two issues are related...?

    It's a 9133-55a system. I just found out that I may need an "activation code". A popup in HMC shows that this server cannot take a VIOS.

    You likely only have PowerVM Express if you can't do VIO Server installs.
