Status as for BAW 25.0.0: The support for BTS in BAW is undocumented and only used for internal reasons. Hence I am afraid it is not in a state to be easily consumable by customers. Also, the installers and operators typically configure BAW without BTS, hence there is a need to manually configure BAW for BTS.
But in theory, the following holds:
- BAW can be configured to know the connection to BTS. The exact details of this configuration is not documented.
- If that configuration is done, BTS teams can be synchronized into BAW as a special type of group. They are somewhat similar to LDAP groups or internal groups. The REST API to synchronize the BTS teams into the system as group is publicly documented. BTS teams are then identified as BAW groups using as name the BTS team uuid, which is not very convenient.
- If that configuration is done, when a user logs in, its BTS team membership is updated inside BAW, very similar to the mechanism how LDAP group memberships are updated on user log in. Again, this can be configured in various ways, but those configurations are not documented.
- The groups originated from BTS synchronization are independent from the Process App, i.e. available to all Process Apps. This matches your requirement.
- Custom routing is supported: You can assign a task to "ROLE:10000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000", then any member of the BTS team named "Administrators" can claim this task. Here, the 10000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 is the uuid of the BTS Team named "Administrators". This works but you see, it is not really convenient.
- Whether a BAW Team can be created that contains a group originated from a BTS Team is unclear to me, as this was never the internal use case that we tested regularly. My guess is that it would still work, but since BAW Teams are specific to Process Apps, that seems not what you want. You probably want the custom routing.
- Some functionality in Process Portal and other dashboards may require BAW Teams and may not work with BTS Teams yet. This is another area where improvements are required.
Overall, even though it nearly works for your use case, I must say it is right now not polished and documented for customers to be easily used. We are very happy to get customer requests like this, then we can give the BTS support higher priority and polish it and document it in future releases.

Subject: Can I assign a BTS team to a BAW process task?
Dears,
We came up with a need of having teams, that need to be created/managed outside of a specific Business Automation Process Application - having these teams defined in a specific Process App is not enough (either static or dynamic) - we need to be able to use the same teams across all process apps.
There is also a need to manage this team's work using workplace dashboard.
I have been exploring if the use of BTS teams is an option - however I was not able to see/use them in the Process App.
Do you have any clue on how these teams can be used in BAW task assignment?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Adriano
