  • 1.  CAMID change question

    Posted Fri August 14, 2020 12:41 PM
    Hi folks,

Does someone's CAMID change when the user is moved around in the authentication system (e.g. Active Directory), for example if say their organizational unit changes?

I imagine if an AD account were deleted and then added again (as when a username changes because of say marriage), the CAMID would change; but what if the person were just moved to a different organizational unit (OU)? As background, we authenticate against Active Directory and ensure that the username  is a member of a security group called cognos.

I'm asking to try to understand an error received when doing a deployment of the Cognos Content Store: CM-REQ-4248 Unable to access the account "CAMID("NS2:u:cn=hwang,ou=students,ou=people")" in an external security system.

This person is an employee not a student. Weirdly people here have no reason to think she was ever a student.

    Thanks

Aside: Maybe IBM should alter Cognos to store the unique identifying value representing someone in an authentication system in one place in the Content Store. All other references to the user in the Content Store to the person could be pointers to the location holding that value. That way, when someone's authentication system changes, it would seem that the only thing necessary to do would be to alter the one value. As it is now, username and authentication system changes are tricky to handle
