  • 1.  C10.2 > C11.7 ok to copy/replace "skins" folder?

    Posted 08/26/20 12:06 AM
    Upon upgrading from Cognos 10.2.2 to Cognos 11.1.7, when running reports interactively as HTML, there were weird HTML elements not rendering properly on screen.

    Researching the issue, the following IBM resolved the problem;
    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ctrl-shift-2-shown-report-output

    It involves copying the skins folder from <c10>\webcontent\skins to <c11>\webcontent\skins and <c11>\webcontent\bi\skins.

    Other than fixing the issue, I'm wondering what the implications are for copying an old 'legacy' folder into a new C11 installation and overwriting it's directories. In fixing the issue would it possibly also remove any features/ modern formatting / functionality?

    After doing some folder differences between the <c10>\webcontent\skins folder and c11>\webcontent\skins and <c11>\webcontent\bi\skins folders, there are infact differences on both sides. As such, I wouldn't recommend blindly copying the C10 skins folder into the C11 folders.
