We are having an issue with Cognos installation, we have a server running multiple Cognos instances and in each instance inside the wlp/usr/servers/cognos/workarea the org.eclipse.osgi folder weights around 5GB.
We have been trying to reduce that size or completely disable it, but are unable to do so. We have tried using -Xshareclasses and setting different (osgi.embedded.cleanupOnSave, osgi.embedded.cleanupOnOpen, RunTime Options from Eclipse Documentation) OSGi properties inside <cognos_install_dir>/webapps/p2pd/WEB-INF/eclipse/configuration/config.ini. None of them are respected.
While looking for solution we came across this issue in the forum which had the same problem. The solution proposed in the issue did not work. Another issue which had the same problem as described above. brenthdaniel states that one of the reason could be that the configuration file is modified which in our case is not modified same as shown in gjdeval statement. While looking at the files in the installation we can see a <cognos_install_dir>/wlp/usr/servers/cognosserver/logs/state/plugin-cfg.xml being gererated everytime cognos is started but not sure if it could be related to the issue.
After stopping the server, removing the workarea folder and starting cognos again we can see the workarea forlder contains duplicates of almost all jars (see the attachment).
Any suggestion on disabling the caching mechanism on OSGi?
