Regarding Maximo 7.6.1.2:

Was wondering if anyone has managed to setup a Blue-Green environment with Maximo.

We currently have an automated deployment process using Jenkins which roughly takes 2 hrs to complete. (pull latest code, shutdown, updatedb, rebuild, redeploy and start). Since our Maximo is used 24/7 and we have been asked to investigate avenues to minimize planned outages to the system.

Although it's possible to set up Maximo in 2 different environments (Blue and Green), the biggest constraint seems to be the database, as we can't have an active environment writing to the DB while the passive environment is upgrading and redeploying to the same DB. We do have a spare read replica DB, but switching between permissions and syncing the two DB's needs some DBA intervention (which we are trying to avoid for every release)

Any recommendations, please?

At SRO we have developed tools to overcome these kinds of issues. Our SDU tool eliminates lengthy downtime during upgrades by acting as a data transfer between the two environments.
