  • 1.  BFE4C025 error on one of my Power8 server virtual machine

    bellow error i have received on one of my LPAR , so as per src error subject patriation is shutdown abnormally, but i have concern why its showing sysplanner0 error or Hardware error could u please some expert explain me and help me to solve my issue and close that call because i am new Qamer in ibm power and i am only responsible of hardware level not a software thanks in advance.

    We have raised a  H/W call for the  error we are receiving in the errpt..  Kindly check...

    Hi Mujeeb

    Such crashes are usually NOT caused by hardware. If the system is covered for software maintenance, you can open a software case to have the data analysed.

    Thank you very much for your response, sir, but my question is that i know its a software call why it's asking for sysplanner0 hardware fault? just need this clarification because my client is insisting if its software issue why it showing a hardware issue in errpt or src thanks advance ...

    Hi Mujeeb

    I guess the Class:H denotes the layer that detected the problem logged in that entry.

    The reverse is also possible - for example a hardware error on a disk or cable can cause Class:S errors to be logged by the software layer that detects the error. Again the detailed data will give more information.

    SCAN_ERROR_CHRP is a general Firmware created entry that is always shown with Sysplanar0. Since POWER5 those SCAN_ERROR_CHRP are used to be logged and they can show issues detected by the Firmware, that i.e. in this Case a Partition ended abnormally. It can also show Powersupply errors, Hardware deconfiguration etc. It is always important to check with SRC is logged with that Errorlog entry of SCAN_ERROR_CHRP.
