I am new to BAW and I am trying to configure a traditional BAW. If I were to use an external Content Engine and external ICN for BAW, do I need to first configure the embedded Content Engine and ICN before configuring the BAW to work with external Content Engine and ICN?

Hi KH, when planning to use external CPE and external ICN , you can choose the appropriate BPMConfig properties (like externalICNCPE_ProcessCenter.properties  ). During installation, this will skip creation of the internal environments.

Even if you're not starting with existing Case Manager environments, the steps described in https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7156782 might still provide some idea how working with external CPE/ICN will be covered. 

You may want to consider working with an experienced services consultant to get things started efficiently.
