  • 1.  Autoscript Editor on Maximo 7.6.0

For those who may be interested, I have successfully installed the Automation Script Editor on 7.6.0.8 in a development environment.

I was able to use the instructions until Step 5, where the (non-standard?) import utility told me, a member of the MAXADMIN group with almost everything granted, that I didn't have permission. So, I imported the XML using Application Designer, instead. Also, Step 5 has a note about ensuring "that you have all the pre-requirements", but no indication is given anywhere about what those might be, and I don't have anything else "special".

I've only had 5 minutes with the editor, but I like the monospace font, the syntax highlighting, the line numbers, and the ability to collapse and expand code blocks. It does not appear to do code assistance, and I miss the Notepad++ feature that suggests "words" that you've used before - which helps fill the code assistance gap by at least saving you typing all of "isDebugEnabled" after the first time.

    Hi,

Can you share some screenshots of the tool, I am interested in integrating in our development environment too.
I was wondering, since are you using notepad++, does it support jython ? like eclipse does or is it just a previously used words suggestion.

Here's a screenshot of a script based on the first library script in the Scripting 7.6 Features document:

Automation Script editor was included in Maximo 7.6.1.1 but released
Notepad++ has Python syntax highlighting, but no code assistance. The previously-used-word suggesting helps fill the code assistance gap. Neither Notepad++ nor the Autoscript Editor provide full, Eclipse-like support.

I requested this 3 years ago as an RFE

    http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=97095

So the RFE process definitely works even if it takes a little time.
This will definitely be of use to our team.
