    ​Hi,

    Cognos Analytics 11.1

    I have developed sql code to update a SQL Server table every 5 seconds and have built a dashboard over this table.  The dashboard data comes from a data module that is connected to a SQL Server database and the data is coming across without any issue.

    I have set the dashboard to refresh automatically every 5 seconds but the graph on the dashboard is not updating.

    I have tried several different visualisations and none of these seem to work.

    I have turned off cache in the dashboard and in the data module but to no avail.

    I am using Chrome but have also tried Internet Explorer 11 and neither work.

    I am keen to demo a graph updating to my Deputy CEO next week as realtime reporting is on the agenda.

    There still seems to be caching going on somewhere else but I cannot find where it is.  Can you please advise.

    We fixed an issue in this area. Not sure if you come across the same issue. You may not be using the latest kit that contains the fix. Can you give me the full version of your CA server? 

    You can find the version in installDir/cmplst.txt.  Look for "Manifest=casrv-manifest-11.1.x-xxxxxxxxxx"

    Thank you for you prompt reply.  In answer to your question the version we are running is below.

    Manifest=casrv-manifest-11.1.1-1811151250-winx64h.json

    It is confirmed the version you have does not contain the fix to the cache issue. You need version 11.1.1-1812041507 or later.

    Please download the latest version or contact support for assistance.

    Hi,

    After installing the latest fix pack my issue was not resolved.  I kept investigating and found the source of the issue.  There is a 3rd area where the data is cached.​  When I set the database cache to "None" within the data module the automatic refresh worked perfectly.

    However, I have not been using the 11.1 version long enough to understand what performance impact removing the cache may have.  For the meantime I will process with this config.

    I have attached a screenshot for reference.

    There are cache controls at Dashboard level as well as Data Module level. ​It is a design intent to set cache at 3600 seconds in Data Module at default. 

    Glad to hear that you've picked up the latest kit. You will need that fix for the cache to work correctly in Dashboard.
