We have a BPM environment with more than 400 processes currently running. The environment consists of two nodes, each configured with a JVM heap size of 6 GB. Due to the high workload, heap utilization frequently reaches critical levels, with usage peaking at approximately 5.8+ GB.

We are considering increasing the JVM heap size from 6 GB to 10 GB on each node. We would appreciate your recommendation on whether this change is advisable. Additionally, could you please advise on the potential impact of this change on the system, such as garbage collection behavior, JVM performance, or increased server startup time?

I usually use the below formula. 
(1024mb+768mb+Jvm1+jvm2+jvmn)* 1.2 + 2 GB = Total Memory (gb) of server
Note: 1024 Mb DMGR, 768 Mb Node.

Thank you, I got your idea, it pertains to the total RAM size to be allocated on the machine / VM. This is also useful.

My actual question is related to the heap size to be allocated to the JVM. We have a golden topology (one DMGR, 2 nodes and 3 JVMs on each node). On each node, there is a cluster member of the Application, Messaging and Supplement clusters. With regards to the performance for the applications and being observed by the business users, we would like to increase the heap size of the Application Cluster Member's JVM from 6 GB to 10 GB. Will it be a good idea of increasing the heap size upto 10 GB or will it have bad consequences?
