One of our clients wants to add a field value - lets call it ClientName - to one of the extract file. I believe the extract is either csv or Excel. I am not sure. Is this possible?

Yes you should be able to create a report and add a client name. When creating the report add a calculated query First Name and Last Name run the report as csv or Excel.

Steve, I do not really understand your steps.

The real example is that we have a customer that wants to put the processing date on the file name. So instead of Sales.xls they want Sales_20200116.xls. The date is not the current date, but the processing date of the data. So there is a field expression ProcDate. How could I add this field to the report file name?

The most efficient approach would be to use bursting. Use the ProcDate field as the burst key, and it should append the burst key to the filename. The steps to set up bursting are outlined here: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_11.1.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_cr_rptstd.doc/t_cr_rptstd_modrep_bursting_reports.html#cr_rptstd_modrep_bursting_reports. If you want to generate separate tabs within an Excel workbook that have distinct values for ProcDate, the steps to do that are outlined in this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HP1hK9w2cQM. You would create page sets in the Reporting tool and then specify a custom Excel-related parameter in the Administration tool.
