  • 1.  Ad-hoc report: Can't create total if "Exclude Attributes Mode=Yes" in ROS

    MAM 7.6.1.2:

    Ad-hoc reports --> Summarize tab:

    I can't create a total if Exclude Attributes Mode=Yes in the ROS child object.

    I get an error when I click the Add Values button: "BMXAA8992E - The summary was not created. Ensure that the name of the field is correct."

    I can workaround that issue by setting Exclude Attributes Mode=No in the ROS child object.

    (Note: I hadn't actually excluded any fields yet via the Exclude/Include fields action, although I had planned to. https://i.stack.imgur.com/XNCNY.png
     )

    That field was read-only, so I deleted the child object and re-created it – but with Exclude Attributes Mode=No.
    Now, I can create totals in the Summarize tab without issue.

    Summary:

    It's good that the workaround was successful.
    But does anyone know why Exclude Attributes Mode=Yes would cause that error in the Summarize tab in ad-hoc reports?

    That sounds like a bug to me. I would open a support case on that.

    When you use Exclude Attributes Mode, records get inserted into the MAXINTOBJCOLS table as if you had excluded them (the intobjfldtype is even set to EXCLUDE). The framework handles checking this for integrations but I wonder if the report framework is looking at it a different way in the summarize tab and that's why it isn't working there. The concept of exclude attributes mode was added after the QBR summary tab so it wouldn't have been a scenario tested during the development of it.

    From IBM Support:

    "This behaviour is not a Bug. This is because the "Exclude Attributes Mode" option in Object Structures was made for Consumed By = INTEGRATION, but not for Consumed By = REPORTING.

    The documentation in a future Maximo 7.6.1.x version will be updated to mention this current restriction (the "Exclude Attributes Mode" checkbox only currently applies to INTEGRATION-type Object Structures). We do not have a workaround for this issue you are currently facing.

    We recommended that you raise a Request For Enhancement (RFE)."
