  • 1.  About changing management ip in PBR environment

    Posted 9 days ago

    Hi,

In an IBM Flashsystem PBR environment, if the management IP of the DR storage needs to be changed, do we need to re-authenticate each other?

If so, how do we do it?

    Hi,

To change the IP address of the partner system, first use the command "chpartnership -stop remote-system-name" to stop the partnership. Then, use "chpartnership -clusterip newipaddress remote-system-name" and start the partnership with "chpartnership -start remote-system-name"

That command (and associated 'cluster_ip' property) is only applicable if the partnership between systems is an IP partnership. It is not required for an FC partnership.

Thanks Chris, I assumed it was an ip partnership :)

    Hi Chis,

just a quick question about IP partnership : do we need a DNS for the ip partnership, or is communication between the management ip addresses sufficient  ?

DNS is not required for the partnership.  The connectivity required for an IP partnership is in the product documentation.
For policy-based replication, the IP connectivity requirements are in the Planning topic, for example:

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/sanvolumecontroller/8.7.3?topic=recovery-planning-replication-disaster

The current customer environment is FC PBR environment, and if the management IP changes, do you need to re-authenticate for RestApi communication?

You shouldn't need to make any additional changes.  After you change the mangagement IP on one system, that partnered system should be told about that change (in-band, over the FC link) and IP communication should be restablished over the new IPs using the existing certificates in the trust store.
