  • 1.  3-Site Replication

    Posted 08/27/24 10:20 AM

    Hello,

    in the Redbook SG24-8504-01 I find :

Note: Because of an issue in IP Replication, customers that use this feature should not upgrade to v8.4.0.0 or later.

I have a FS5200 that replicates via MetroMRR on a local FS5035 in fiber partnership. We shoud replicate to a third FS5035 over a long distance via IP partnership and use the 3 site replication with Orchestrator software

Of course all the three system are beond v8.4.0.0.

Does anyone knows if my situation is supported ?

    Hi Pino,

This is a warning due to hu2340 for code levels 8.3.1.x and above, and the issue has been fixed in code levels 8.5.0.0. What is the code level of your boxes.

    System A:     4662-6H2     V8.6.0.2

    System B:      2072-3N4     V8.4.0.1

    System C:      2072-3N4     V8.4.0.1

    Of course we can update

The 8.4.x code levels will end of support on 31 Dec 24. It's better to upgrade'em all to the 8.6.0.4 LTS level.

Upgrading all three systems to the same supported LTS release is definitely the safest approach. Besides addressing the older IP replication issue, it also keeps the Metro Mirror and IP partnership environment on a consistent code level, which tends to simplify troubleshooting and future maintenance. I'd also recommend reviewing the interoperability matrix and validating the 3-site replication workflow in a maintenance window before putting it into production.
