Consensus is an important concept in distributed computing. It is fundamental for achieving consistency, fault tolerance, coordination, and security in systems where multiple independent nodes work together. Without consensus, distributed systems would be unreliable, inconsistent, and vulnerable to failures and malicious activities. We probably "agree" (sic.) that these are all things that an enterprise can't accept, especially when moving to the cloud.
