The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative from Stanford University aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. In addition to the Women in Data Science (WiDS) annual conference at Stanford on 8 March 2021, we are thrilled that there are many WiDS ambassadors (hosting and leading activities) and speakers from IBM in 2021 at the WiDS regional events globally. We have also been encouraging IBM teams to participate in the WiDS Datathon and we know of more than 100 IBMers participating in the contest to predict diabetes in ICU patients. We've published information about IBMers in the WiDS 2021 datathon and you can see some feedback from the IBM teams in 2020. In WiDS datathons the ratio switches from the usual 80% male participants in data science contests to 80% female.
Please scroll down to see a list of just some of the WiDS Ambassadors, speakers, panelists, and workshop leaders from IBM that we are aware of. We'll add the links to their activities as they emerge. Please do consider joining us at these events, or any of the WiDS events worldwide.
Note:
Do not miss the 24 hour WiDS conference on International Women's Day on 8 March 2021. We are excited that Andrea Martin (IBM Distinguished Engineer) is a panelist in the EMEA segment
IBM co-hosted regional events will often livestream here: https://video.ibm.com/channel/A2NL37BMs3G You will find some prior recordings there too

A Timeline for Some Regional Events in 2021 involving WiDS Ambassadors or speakers from IBM
WiDS regional events are made up of talks, panels, hands-on workshops - or a combination. They can be 2 hours long, or run over a few days or weeks. Sometimes they are more like a conference than a single workshop. The numbers of attendees at each regional event range from 10 to 1000. And the views of the livestreams typically reach 1000s.
