WiDS Ambassadors and Speakers from IBM at WiDS Regional Events in 2020

The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative from Stanford University aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. In addition to the  Women in Data Science (WiDS) annual conference at Stanford on 2 March 2020, we are thrilled that there are many WiDS ambassadors (hosting and leading activities) and  speakers from IBM in 2020 at the WiDS  regional events globally.  We have also been encouraging IBM teams to participate in the WiDS Datathon - you can see some feedback from the IBM teams.

Please scroll down to see a list of just some of the WiDS Ambassadors, speakers, panelists, and workshop leaders from IBM that we are aware of. We'll add the links to their activities as they emerge. Please do consider joining us at these events, or any of the WiDS events worldwide.

  • At least 22 WiDS Ambassadors from IBM are leading events including Sarah Boufelja , Arunima Chaudhary, Ching-Hua Chen, Kaoutar ElMaghraoui,  Filomena Floriana Ferrara, Noriko Katoh, Yunyao Li, Trisha Mahoney, Maureen McElaney, Pooja Mistry, Eva-Marie Muller-Stuler, Kyoko Nishito, Roger Osorio, Serena Bellesi, Sujatha (Suj) Perepa, Dulce Ponceleon, Yamini Rao, Aishwarya Srinivasan, Aya Tokura, Caryn L Woodruff, Christine T Wolf, Jean Wynne

  • IBM leaders, ambassadors, speakers and panelists  - and participants in the WiDS datathon - are from various groups and communities in IBM - e.g., IBM Academy of TechnologyCorporate ResponsibilityCODAIT (Center for Open-Source Data & AI Technologies), Data & AIData Science Elite team, Data Science  Community, Developer Advocacy, Research, University Programs

  • At least 22 distinct events involve IBMers including : Abu Dhabi, Bengalaru, Bristol, Burlington, Cairo, Dubai, Edinburgh, Honolulu, Lille, London X 2, Milan, New Jersey, New York City X2, Rabat, Raleigh-Durham, Rome, Riyadh X 3, São Paulo, Tokyo

The numbers of attendees at each regional event range from 10 to 1000.  Colleagues are also working with Stanford University on at least one WiDS activity at the upcoming THINK conference. There is a companion WiDS activity - a Datathon and WiDS Excellence in Research Award

Great appreciation and good luck to all the WiDS leaders, ambassadors, speakers, panelists, organizers, supporters etc at this busy time as most of the activity coincides with International Women's Day - so Feb-Apr is a very busy time creating a closely knit and well-informed hands-on global data science community.
