    Hello Everyone,

    Having an issue (invalid Archive file) of registering an Archive File(s) on Linux that were generated via a "local " server Archive Request on Windows Server 2010 (64 bit) reading data from SQL Server 2012. Optim on Linux is a 32 bit.

    Is there known workaround to create connectors to SQL Server to be able to use 32 bit Optim?

    Trying to keep all archive directories in one place for ease of maintenance.

    Gary, will you please add some additional details on what you're trying to do? Subject line says you are archiving SQL Server and creating an archive collection, but content of your post is saying you're having an issue registering an archive file created on a different server and then ask about connecting to SQL Server. Not sure exactly what you're trying to achieve. Thanks for clarifying and hopefully we can provide some insight to help you out!

    Hi Keith,

    A bit more clarification. We have a Linux based IRPCD daemon presenting all archive files/ collections. That requires all of those files to be registered with an Optim Directory Optim Server first. All previous years (prior to 64 bit) archives from all different RDBM systems (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, etc.) where all archives were moved and registered without issues and presented for reporting ( mostly end of life systems).
    In this case I have archived data from a SQL Server via a 64 bit Windows server where installation/configuration of the SQL Server ODBC and thereafter creation of the DB Alias is very easy.
    I then attempted an approach to copy the files into an abovementioned Linux system and register the files, where I got an error of file being invalid. From what I understand is the incompatibility of the 64bit to 32bit systems.

    Since then I have initiated a work around of restoring archives into an Oracle database and subsequently archiving from there.

    Thank you for the additional details. We still run Optim as 32-bit; even on 64-bit Windows servers, so we haven't hit the bitness issue you ran into with archive files. The 32-bit version runs fine for us, so it may be possible to redo your installation to run as 32-bit and then you can easily move any future created archive files around to other Optim servers and directories since those are still 32-bit. 
    That may not be worth it for you, though. Probably depends if you will continue adding new files to that Linux server or if it was just a handful of older ones.
