I'm getting ready to install 14.10.FC10 in our dev environment, and confirmed that there still is a weird quirk in the installation instructions. In the README_ids.txt file, there is this:
Common installation methods:
The commands below describe basic installation methods. The IBM ClientSDK Installation Guide contains detailed information about how to set up Informix for your needs.
Available at https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGU8G/welcomeIfxServers.html
Run this command to install Informix in graphical mode:
ids_install -gui
Alternately, to install Informix in console mode:
ids_install -console
When I then run 'ids_install -console', I get:
[!] ./ids_install -console
Preparing to install
Extracting the JRE from the installer archive...
Unpacking the JRE...
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
Launching installer...
Usage: ids_install [-f <path_to_installer_properties_file> | -options]
(to execute the installer)
where options include:
-? show this help text
-h show this help text
-help show this help text
--help show this help text
-i [gui | console | silent]
specify the user interface mode for the installer
-D<name>=<value>
specify installer properties
-r <path_to_generate_response_file>
Generates response file.
So the actual command needed is 'ids_install -i console'.
I know, it's a minor thing. But it's been years that the README_ids.txt has included the wrong information. Any ideas on how we can get this addressed?
