Is there are a way to stop or delay all tasks on schedule?
During a major database upgrade we would like to limit failure because of database not being available.

    HI Dagur,

You can select all the required activities from Upcoming Activities section of the Status tab in Administration Console and then click on Suspend icon at the top right of that screen. You will then be prompted to pick a date and time till when those activities need to be suspended.

    Hope this helps.

Something to think about is if you are ok with skipping those reports for that time period/day.  If you pause a scheduled item, it won't run when you un-suspend it if the time has passed the scheduled time.  Depending on your environment, you might want to just shut down Cognos.  When you start it back up, regardless of the time, all scheduled reports, jobs and events will then run like normal, just of course at a later time, and yes, all at once!

We do this when we have a scheduled outage, especially when it's during a peak reporting window.  Having to manually run missed schedules is a pain in the butt!

That's exactly what I would have suggested. Simply stop the Cognos service via Configuration, then do the DB maintenance work, then restart the service. And hope that the bandwidth and computing power on the Cognos server will then be sufficient ;)

    All the best
