  • 1.  Connecting PA Cloud to Oracle Cloud

    Posted 29 days ago

Curious if anyone has had success with connecting to Oracle Cloud environment.  We have an existing PA cloud environment that connects to Oracle on Prem EBS.  But they are migrating to Oracle Cloud, and it appears to be a challenge to get ODBC connections.  Oracle team is wanting to send us flat files.    Would love to hear some success stories that could help guide us.  Thank you

    Hi Terry,

Were you able to get a response to your question related support for Oracle Cloud environment?

    Hi Nick,

My client is waiting for their Oracle partner to assist, but it appears the problem is on the Oracle side.  They state that even with ODBC, we wouldn't be able to get to where the data is located.  It seems like we may need to do some sort of API, but still unclear at this point.

    Thanks

    Terry

Just to add that a client of ours was very keen to use the Oracle REST API but that the Oracle implementation partner advised against it as they had experienced some stability/ reliability issues.

Data is now copied to a replica which is accessed by ODBC

Last year while evaluating PA cloud, we ran into a similar situation. My client had recently migrated to Oracle EBS cloud. Since their PA Local could connect through ODBC connection, we were looking for a similar solution. IBM's solution was to use the Planning Analytics Secure Gateway (now deprecated). Their IT squashed this because of concerns of punching a hole into their firewall to pass data outside their environment. A direct Oracle cloud to PA cloud was not possible. Oracle would not load the PASG and IBM would not load Oracle gateway.

I am now on a different journey. We have Planning Analytics Local running and connected to Oracle EBS cloud through ODBC. Next year they are migrating to Oracle Fusion cloud. Since their is no ODBC connectivity to Fusion cloud, we are exploring Oracle Cloud Integration and TM1py to import and export data via each environment's REST API.
