Filtering in Report

    Hello Cognos Experts,

    The use-case is:
    Have enduser filter report-data to their needs (without knowing much about report authoring) 
    using the new filter dialog (which is really nice) that is available to report-viewer . 

    We find two issues doing so:
    • The filter is sensitive to the language setting
      • So preparing the report in germany
      • Handing it over to someone in canada makes it show "no data available"
      • Due to the fact that the german text is different in english
      • Would the filter dialog use the the display/use item reference this would not be a problem because then it would filter to the ID column without any text 
    • The performance
      • Filtering to the ID column would have better performance as it is indexed

    In QueryStudio we were happy that the product uses Display Item Reference and Filter Item Reference:

    According to documentation:

    "The Filter Item Reference property identifies the query item used when Reporting or Query Studio generates a filter. This property can help create more efficient queries by ensuring that a filter uses an indexed numeric column rather than a non-indexed string column."

    Does this mean that "Reporting" (ReportStudio) as well as QueryStudio should use the values?
    Then we have a documentation error or a product error. Because the filter as seen above does not use these items.

    Using a prompt or promptmany macro in FM generates correct filters but those filter dialogs are not as nice as the built-in one.
    Using a prompt page ... same thing. The filterdialogs are not as nice. Apart, this would mean a lot of work.
    Preparing promptpages for 23 FM Models with about 30 columns to filter in each. 

    Any ideas on how to use Display + Filter Item Reference  in the report viewer filter-dialog?
    Any ideas on howto have the enduser filter items without language sensitivity?
    Is there an option that we should try?
