z/OS Connect EE with API Connect

REST API is a technology that recently gained a lot of interest, everyone is talking about it because it’s a simple and standard way for applications to communicate with each other. This standard is coming from Web, that’s why we talk about HTTP. So what solution does IBM offer to handle APIs? IBM’s strategic solution to handle APIs is API Connect, which is in fact the result of merging two products: IBM API Management and StrongLoop LoopBack. API Connect brings together the two products features: management and security features from API Management, creation and runtime features from StrongLoop.

But then what about z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition? IBM is positioning z/OS Connect EE as the unified way to expose all z/OS subsystems services as APIs, does the two fit together?

This set of articles aim at explaining to z Systems users how API Connect can help with existing APIs. It will cover a presentation of API Connect capabilities and integration examples with z Systems.
