With the release of Maximo Application Suite v9.0, we're excited to introduce two significant updates to our reference architecture. These updates lay the foundation for our clients and partners to leverage the power of generative AI, powered by IBM watsonx, to transform their asset management workflows.
Work Order Intelligence: A Blueprint for Text, Image, and Timeseries Data Analytics
Our first update enables new AI capabilities in Maximo Manage, powered by IBM's generative AI platform, watsonx.ai. Maximo Work Order Intelligence provides a blueprint for extending our architecture to support advanced analytics on different kinds of data. This is significant for Maximo, given its unique reliance on relational data, image and unstructured data, and timeseries data. With Work Order Intelligence, we're establishing a repeatable pattern for other use cases that can be applied to these various data types. This means that clients and partners can build upon this foundation to create new analytics and capabilities that meet their specific needs. We'll continue to refine and release new AI and generative AI functions that leverage the data stored in Maximo Application Suite, so stay tuned for more updates!

Orchestrating Workflows with Conversational AI in Maximo Application Suite
Our second update introduces a new reference architecture that brings conversational AI and automation capabilities to Maximo Application Suite, powered by IBM watsonx Orchestrate. This integration enables users to interact with Maximo Manage's asset management capabilities using natural language, creating a more intuitive and efficient experience.
The initial architecture starts with a "Maximo Assistant" in watsonx Orchestrate, which allows users to query asset status, create work orders, and more. As AI agents evolve and grow in capability, we'll rely on the IBM watsonx Orchestrate platform to bring new workflows and generative AI-powered assistants to Maximo Application Suite users.
