The IBM FlashSystem Q4 2025 update introduces integration with IBM Storage Insights AI Suggestions, enabling administrators to receive actionable, data-driven recommendations directly from the FlashSystem grid dashboard.
This enhancement provides proactive monitoring and intelligent alerts related to capacity, warranty, and performance for systems connected to the FlashSystem grid.
Overview
The Storage Insights AI Suggestions engine continuously analyses connected FlashSystem environments and generates recommendations based on operational and performance data.
These insights help administrators identify potential risks early, optimize resource utilization, and perform corrective actions from within the FlashSystem grid interface.
AI suggestions are automatically refreshed and displayed in real time, ensuring up-to-date visibility across all systems in the grid.
AI Suggestion Categories
The AI suggestions are grouped into three primary categories:
Capacity
Example: Insufficient storage capacity to sustain expected growth.
Indicates that a system is nearing its utilization threshold based on current trends and projected demand.
Warranty
Example: System warranty or maintenance period has expired or will expire soon.
Notifies administrators when a system’s warranty or maintenance period has expired or is nearing expiration, enabling timely renewal or replacement actions to maintain service continuity.
Performance
Example: High CPU usage detected.
Highlights potential performance bottlenecks that could affect workload efficiency or response times.
Each suggestion includes metadata such as timestamp, system name, affected system, and recommended actions.
User Experience Enhancements
The FlashSystem grid interface has been updated to provide a streamlined workflow for viewing and acting on AI suggestions.
1. Dashboard Integration
A new AI Suggestions card is available on the FlashSystem grid dashboard.
Displays the total number of AI suggestions generated daily.
Provides a quick overview of potential issues across connected systems.

2. Dedicated AI Suggestions Page
A new AI Suggestions entry provided on the FlashSystem grid navigation menu:
· Displays detailed listings of all current AI suggestions categorized by type (Capacity, Warranty, Performance).
· Allows users to drill down into each suggestion to view context and recommended actions.

· Supports real-time actions such as partition migration directly from the recommendation view.

· Includes a “Go to Storage Insights” button that allows the user to open the selected suggestion directly in the Storage Insights GUI. Within Storage Insights, the user can view detailed metrics and forecasted capacity charts, providing additional context to plan and execute storage optimization tasks effectively.

Actionable Recommendations
Each AI suggestion includes one or more recommended actions depending on its category. One of the key actions introduced in this release is Storage Partition Migration.
Partition Migration Workflow
-
When a capacity or performance issue is identified, the FlashSystem can recommend migrating one or more partitions
-
Users can invoke the Partition Evaluation process, powered by Storage Insights, to identify the most suitable target system based on a compatibility score
-
The evaluation results provide a ranked list of recommended systems.
-
Administrators can initiate partition migration directly from the recommendation panel without leaving the FlashSystem grid interface.
This integration enables closed-loop, AI-driven optimization — from detection to recommendation to execution.
Prerequisites
To use the Storage Insights AI Suggestions feature in FlashSystem, ensure the following prerequisites are met:
- FlashSystem must be connected to IBM Storage Insights(Pro licence)
- A Storage Insights REST API Key must be registered on the FlashSystem
Summary
The Q4 2025 FlashSystem update enhances operational intelligence through tight integration with Storage Insights AI Suggestions.
By surfacing real-time, actionable insights and enabling automated remediation workflows like partition migration, this update helps administrators maintain optimal system health, performance, and availability with minimal manual intervention.
