The popularity of Node.js is driven by its simplicity and massive ecosystem with over two million npm packages that can be used instantly in applications. The planned availability date is November 14, 2025.
What’s New in IBM Open Enterprise SDK for Node.js 24.0
Open Enterprise SDK for Node.js 24.0 is based on the Node.js 24 community release which includes the following new features:
- V8 JavaScript engine upgraded to version 13.6 which includes several new JavaScript features
- OpenSSL updated to 3.5, which adds support for the "post-quantum" algorithms ML-KEM and ML-DSA
- node:http and node:https modules now support the functionality to proxy requests sent through the built-in http/https client
- Added new setDefaultCACertificates() API which allows dynamically configuring CA certificates that will be used by the Node.js TLS clients by default
- import.meta.main is now available which can be used to detect whether the current module was the entry point of the current process
Open Enterprise SDK for Node.js enables clients to extend their core business-critical applications in their journey to application modernization, construct advanced API orchestration, co-locate Node.js applications with data, and leverage the I/O bandwidth of the IBM Z platform.
