In the dynamic world of network performance management, IBM SevOne NPM stands as a gritty beacon of continual evolution. We bring visibility and insights into complex networks the world over. More recently, we've even begun the journey toward intent-based network automation, which is discussed in this great blog about IBM Rapid Network Automation by Tim Greenside. NetOps professionals trust SevOne's NMS device manager, and have for many years. It's been the de-facto means of managing their device inventory since SevOne's inception. Now, the device manager has evolved.

Our new Device Manager is baked directly into Data Insight (as of version 6.6+). Data Insight is SevOne's modern reporting interface, which now also revisions the SevOne NMS interface's capabilities to filter, search, sort, and export device inventories efficiently. It also includes quick access to related reports through Global Report Linking - anywhere you see a device name, related reports are a click away. This removes a lot of the need to switch between the legacy NMS interface and modern DI interface when administering SevOne.

Now SevOne v6.7 marks another significant leap forward in our efforts to modernize our user interface. We've added 2 key new enhancements - discovery management and refresh control.

Device Manager "2.0" Capabilities

(Requires SevOne Data Insight v6.6+)

Customize - choose what columns of device metrics and metadata you need to see, how you want it organized.

Filter - distill your inventory list by data source, appliance, device group, active alerts, and collection method.

Search - use standard strings to further filter the inventory to exactly what you're looking for.

Sort - organize your device inventory table in the way that best answers your key questions.

Export - download your customized, filtered, sorted inventory to a conveniently portable .csv.

Report - navigate to deeper network insights from the through Global Report Linking, and don't lose your settings as you explore Data Insight to solve your network performance challenges with SevOne.

What's New in v6.7?

Refresh Control

SevOne v6.7 enhances network management with two pivotal features: Refresh Control and Discovery Management. The Refresh Control feature empowers users with real-time data, allowing them to set the frequency at which the Devices page is updated. This real-time update capability ensures that network administrators have the most current view of their network devices.

Discovery Management

The Discovery Management functionality allows administrators to initiate or cancel device discoveries, individually or in bulk, without the need to go to the legacy NMS user interface. This feature is crucial for obtaining up-to-date information about network devices, ensuring that network management decisions are based on the latest data.
