UrbanCode Deploy 7.0.3.2: Containerized Distributed Front End

By IBM DevOps Expert posted Thu April 28, 2022 06:21 PM

With the release of UrbanCode Deploy 7.0.3, we introduced the Distributed Front End (DFE) capability (you can read more about the new architecture here). In general, the DFE server can be used at no cost to provide resiliency to your UrbanCode Deploy setup. The DFE server allows companies to distribute user load through a load balancer, and then to one or more DFE servers removing a single point of failure or possible performance bottleneck.

If you have taken a look at our roadmap recently you know that one of our main initiatives is continued investment in architecting for the future. With the 7.0.3.2 release, we have taken another step in that direction by offering the DFE server as a container. Now customers can monitor daily end-user usage and choose to provision DFE servers when they are getting closer to peak usage.

Adding this type of capability ensures that you have a consistent, scalable, and performant UI regardless of the number of users or deployments/reports you are running.
