We’re excited to announce the availability of IBM Db2 for z/OS Agent 1.1, a powerful new tool designed to make it easy to extract information about your Db2 for z/OS environments through the use of a conversational AI chat-based interface. It represents the first major foundational step toward delivering an agent that eventually can extract insights about your Db2 for z/OS environment and help you identify and resolve system issues.
This inaugural release of Db2 for z/OS Agent provides capabilities to retrieve key system information such as buffer pool details, connection data, subsystem parameter configurations, and more. And you’re not limited to a single subsystem; the agent can recognize multiple subsystems, standalone and data sharing, simultaneously and even compare information across them. In addition, it can generate catalog queries, giving you flexible access to catalog data and enabling more natural, question-driven exploration of your subsystem information.
Db2 for z/OS Agent was released on October 10th alongside IBM watsonx Assistant for Z 3.0, which provides the runtime platform that Db2 for z/OS Agent deploys on. Together, these offerings demonstrate IBM’s commitment to bringing AI-driven capabilities to the mainframe ecosystem. They empower enterprises to modernize operations, improve productivity, and accelerate their journey toward hybrid cloud and AI integration.
