Creating the Ultimate Mainframe Modernization Team

By Elisabeth Stahl posted Thu January 16, 2025 02:33 PM

Like some of us, I've been around awhile.

Like many of us I've taken innumerable classes and subsequently have the skills.  I also have real world experience in everything from programming, modeling, and testing to marketing, sales and consulting --- in a nutshell the very definition of a seasoned mainframe veteran's institutional expertise.

Luckily there is also new emerging talent on our team.  And they have amazingly fresh perspectives with an intense focus on modern IT practices.  They are also pretty awesome with AI.

So which persona is better for your Mainframe Modernization team ?

For modernization you need to foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing to bridge the gap between legacy and emerging technologies.  You need to have a plethora of varied skills and experiences behind your efforts.  So the answer is a resounding BOTH.

One of the key components of mainframe modernization happens to be exactly that --- a best practices blend of professionals with a focus on enhanced skills development and talent retention.

Because the superpower here is not just flying off to a new world but making sure you never hit the ground.
