Why I care about Mainframe Modernization

By Elisabeth Stahl posted Tue November 26, 2024 11:18 AM

We just had to get our 100 year old sewer pipes replaced.  It was great to see the broken up clay pieces replaced by durable and sturdy modern pipes with the best of the old system parts integrated into the new.  All the latest modern methods were used in this project:  special cameras to diagnose issues, the latest tools to dig up the earth, fortified braces to keep the trench from collapsing, technical apps to confirm that all looked good.   Without getting into too much ugly detail here I am psyched because I know that this innovation will provide efficiency, reduced costs, and a smooth path from house to street going forward.

And that's exactly how I feel about Mainframe Modernization.   Just like the pipes replacement, Mainframe Modernization focuses on channeling existing legacy systems into a newer, more technologically advanced ecosystem.

What can Mainframe Modernization do for your organization ?

  • Innovation - Modernization can help you in outpacing competitors and accelerate mainframe application, data, and infrastructure modernization for increased business value
  • Deeper insights - Modernization --- whether it revolves around AI or analytics or other views of your data --- provides you more key info to succeed
  • Reduced costs - Modernization is cost-effective for your organization
  • Increased automation - Modernization lets you automate in so many ways to increase productivity
  • Modern skills - Modernization is an investment in your workforce

Modernization is best when you architect what works best where and how.  And whether it's sewer pipes or IT --- to get the most benefit parts of the existing system are updated and integrated with the new.  You don't throw the baby out with the bath water as my favorite math teacher used to say.
