IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 is now available on IBM Cloud Private, an application platform for developing and managing containerized applications. Deploying an IBM Spectrum Symphony cluster is quick and easy with IBM Cloud Private — and now you can deploy version 7.2.1 to check out all the exciting new stuff that this release offers.

So what can you expect with this update for IBM Cloud Private?

Two new Helm charts, one for developers and one for production:

  • Use the ibm-spectrum-symphony-dev chart to deploy a free Community Edition that supports a cluster of up to 64 cores for evaluation. Take note that the older ibm-spectrum-symphony chart is now deprecated.
  • Use the ibm-spectrum-symphony-prod chart to deploy a fully licensed version without any scalability restrictions for production. If you don't already have entitlement, talk to a sales representative to grow your cluster beyond 64 cores and receive IBM Support.

What else...

We've also packed in a bunch of enhancements for both charts. With this update, you can now:

  • Analyze and improve cluster performance by generating reports and storing it in a ready-to-use Apache Derby demonstration database.
  • Choose a client deployment only if you really want it.
  • Secure access by generating a random password for the cluster administrator on each host during cluster startup.
  • Share logs across containers by saving component logs to a shared volume mount.
