Highlights of version 7.2.1
This version offers some impressive goodies, including:
- See for yourself! ... test product performance with our new sample application, which calculates an investment's Value at Risk (VaR) by using a Monte Carlo simulation. And for IBM Spectrum Symphony GPU Harvesting add-on users, check out our new asynchronous sample.
- Install seamlessly: accept the product license agreement without interruption ... simply set the new IBM_SPECTRUM_SYMPHONY_LICENSE_ACCEPT installation variable to accept the product license agreement, when running a silent installation.
- Apply product fixes with ease ... for Linux installations, use the new egoinstallfixes and pversions CLI to efficiently install and manage fixes applied to IBM Spectrum Symphony. Afterwards, use the Installed and Active Software Components page in the cluster management console to see fixes on each host.
- POWER up! Install on Linux on POWER9 ... in addition to POWER8, IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.2.1 supports POWER9 64-bit Little Endian (LE).
- Run as the cluster administrator ... without having to juggle user permissions: we've enhanced some processes to be able to use the same access, seamlessly.
- Leverage performance enhancements ... store an application's history files in application-specific directories, avoid task delays by scheduling tasks on started SIs (instead of restarted SIs), and more!
- Have peace of mind: work more securely ... you can now configure SSL on the local repository server. And for added security, you can restrict user access to host logs, limiting that information to to only the ones you've authorized.
- Leverage an enhanced host factory framework ... use hourly usage tracking for cloud hosts, request hosts based on a minimum requirement of cores and memory, leverage host provisioning from multiple cloud providers simultaneously, connect to any cloud provider with the generic interface, and use bare metal server support for IBM Cloud provisioning. This version of IBM Spectrum Symphony has truly enhanced the host factory framework ... take advantage of all of these while bursting to the cloud!
- Leverage a more flexible IBM Spectrum Symphony multicluster environment ... configure your clusters to use either inbound or outbound multicluster connections, or use the new smcadmin service sync CLI to synchronizing service packages (in addition to using the GUI). Multiple clusters has just gotten a little easier.
- Take charge of your Charge Back chart, data, and rate ... you now have the option to create this Explorer report using a .csv file (in addition to a .xls file). Also, take advantage of the back-end charge back data re-aggregation enhancements, and the new charge back rate log file ... all handy for troubleshooting!
- Limit slot based scheduling resources for Windows too... now, in addition to Linux hosts, you can set memory or CPU limits for your Windows hosts.
- Troubleshoot with more details ... to ease diagnostics, VEMKD, EGOSC, and PEM logs now include millisecond level detail. Also see resource plan updates conveniently in audit logs.
