$10,000 IBM Build-A-Bot Challenge Hits the Halfway Point (There's Still Plenty of Time)

The deadline is July 15 at midnight ET to submit your IBM RPA solution for a chance to win two cash prizes of $10,000 USD.  IBM announced the Challenge on June 15 and, so far, more than 100 individuals have entered and downloaded their 30-day free trial of IBM RPA. Since the Contest allows up to five team members for each submission, there may be many more at work right now.

How Do You Enter?

Click here to sign up and receive a link to access the IBM RPA 30 Day Free Trial.

Reminder: There are two categories you can enter - each with a $10,000 prize:

  • An IBM RPA Solution That Improves Your Workplace
  • An IBM RPA Solution That Addresses a Social Challenge

The Contest is open to all individuals 18 and over who reside in the United States, Canada (excluding Quebec), United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and India (IBM employees and their families and employees from government-owned entities are not eligible).

To submit your solution, you will provide your contact details, plus those of your team (up to 5 total). You will enter a Problem Description (750 words max), a Solution Description (750 words max), and a YouTube link of a video that shows your bot in action (no longer than 4 minutes please).

This is a chance to show how Automation can make a positive difference in the world and we are excited to see what kinds of applications will emerge.

How Do You Get Help If You Need?

You can always visit the RPA Topic Group in the IBM Automation Community and post your inquiry.  If you’re not already a member, you will have to join the group to post, but it only takes a minute.  Also, there are lots of video and printed resources here and more below if you scroll down.

There are Open Office Hours every Friday at 8 AM ET until July 9 for anyone who wants to drop by (https://ibm.webex.com/meet/djenness) to ask a question or report on their progress.  Last Friday, we heard from one contestant (with no previous RPA experience), who had downloaded and already built his first bot.  “I was surprised how smoothly it went,” he said. That was after only a week, so there’s still plenty of time to create something prize-worthy!

How Do You Address a Social Challenge?

That's what we want to know! Last week, my blog looked at a project to count the world’s honeybees and ruminated on how Automation could help gather and visualize the data. Some IBM Business Partners are working with their customers in healthcare, research, life sciences, and other industries to build RPA solutions based on real-world challenges that those organizations are facing today.
