Most organizations make decisions throughout the day, decisions that can determine the success or failure of the business. These decisions can be a fundamental, for example, to approve a loan, pay a claim, onboard a customer, renew a license, buy more materials, hire an employee, or release a patient.
Many business decisions require expensive knowledge workers, who are trained in the policies and practices of the company and empowered to make decisions on behalf of the company. For decades now, companies have been implementing decision management solutions, like IBM Operational Decision Manager, to automate huge swaths of simple policy decisions and remove the burden from human employees. But now, with more data available, and the increasing use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital decisions offer a new value.
