Announcement: IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation 21.0.3

We are pleased to announce some exciting upcoming enhancements for the IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation version 21.0.3. This release is planned to be Generally Available (GA) on December 17, 2021. This early announcement highlights intended support for core business automation capabilities on zLinux, and longer term support for the 21.0.3 release as a Long Term Support Release (LTSR). Please watch this space for additional feature announcements to be issued with the GA software.


IBM Z and LinuxONE support 
Several business automation capabilities are already supported today on IBM Z with traditional style deployments (VMs, bare-metal). With this release, the IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation adds container style deployments on Red Hat OpenShift on the IBM Z platform. The IBM Z platform is known for bringing its next-level data privacy, security, availability, scalability and resiliency to your hybrid multi-cloud strategy. IBM Z and LinuxONE are very cost effective platforms to run IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation. Delve deeper into IBM Z and LinuxONE by visiting the community webpage.


The following capabilities are planned to to be delivered as containers that run on Red Hat OpenShift on the IBM Z platform:

Long Term Support Release and extended fix support 
A Long Term Support Release is a release package that will be supported for an extended period of time when compared to the Continuous Delivery update packages. An LTSR assists clients where frequent functional updates may not be practical for their environment and a longer term deployment is desirable.


The IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation 21.0.3 version will be declared a Long Term Support Release, with fix support for a minimum of two years. Initial fix support will begin on the 21.0.3 GA date of December 17, 2021. The IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation LTSR applies to all containers. The traditional deployed components are covered under the bundled products Lifecycle.  For further information, please review the updated IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation Software Support Lifecycle Addendum and the IBM Continuous Delivery Support Lifecycle Policy. 


The 20.0.3 (December 18, 2020) version end of fix support has been extended from June 25, 2021 to June 24, 2022 to allow clients currently on 20.0.3 enough time to move up to the 21.0.3 LTSR release. This is also reflected in the  IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation Software Support Lifecycle Addendum release date table. While the fix support end date is being extended, the 20.0.3 release is not being declared an LTSR.
