I am proud to announce that IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM) v9.0 has been made generally available as of June 28.
This latest release of our enterprise decision automation offering brings many exciting features, enhancements and illustrated assets:
Intelligent decisions
With the integration of Machine Learning (ML) predictive models into ODM, users can leverage both predictive insights from historical data and prescriptive rule-based decisions based on company policies.
ODM 9.0 supports the integration of ML models built with IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
Decision monitoring
Runtime decision events can be monitored using IBM Business Automation Insights v24.0, with dashboards including technical and business KPIs based on decision data.
Decision event processing is also supported with Apache Kafka .
Decision management improvements
Decision Center features an improved branch merge tool, faster Business Console interface, new REST APIs to generate rule reports and other updates to perform advanced decision management.
Rule Designer includes a new ruleflow editor for a better experience across all platforms.
Kubernetes ecosystem
ODM 9.0 on certified Kubernetes continues to strengthen its integration with Kubernetes tools and standards. This new release includes:
- Monitoring of WebSphere Liberty server with MicroProfile metrics compatible with the Prometheus monitoring tool
- Generation of HTTP access logs for auditing purposes
- Secret management using external vaults, illustrated with HashiCorp Vault

Platform updates
ODM 9.0 runs on Java 17, with compatibility for rulesets built with previous ODM versions.
Rule Designer is based on Eclipse IDE 4.30 (2023-12).
