I think security groups makes the most sense for a majority of our customers. It's already used to define access and this is arguably an access restriction. That being said, I think the query mapping should support 1:many security groups so new groups could be added that should have access to the query. For example, a query could be useful for Technicians & Supervisors which might be in two different security groups in Maximo. This would keep management simple as security groups are already maintained today.
Most customers aren't utilizing crews and person groups are used heavily to drive assignments & communications so cluttering that with person groups that just control query access I think would be confusing. I think it would also cause people to assign work orders to a group that was intended solely for viewing queries, which could result in work not getting completed on time.

Subject: Maximo Queries - Private, Public
Hi! Question for the Maximo Community -
We have had a number of requests to enable an additional layer of access to Maximo queries. Currently - there are 2 access levels: Private and Public.
Private: Query available to creator only
Public: Query available to creator + anyone with access to application
Clients have asked for a 3rd level - to enable query access at a group level - which would enable this access:
Group: Query available to creator + any specified group
Question to you is - what type of group level would you like to see? Options are -
1. Security Group
2. Person Group
3. Crew
4. New Query Group - where you would define which users would be a member
Please respond with what group level access you would most like to see.
Thank you!
