How to remove default colon for labels in Maximo

  • 1.  How to remove default colon for labels in Maximo

    Hi All,

I would like to know on how to remove the default colon (:) that comes at end of every label text in Maximo.

Is it some configuration coming from control-registry.xml file or we need to explore the label.jsp ?

    Thanks and regards,

    Surender

    Hi Surendar,

I am intrigued by your question as it is one, I have never been asked to remove it.  Whilst I don't have the answer, I'd like to explore this further.

Two different things can happen with a field label, either a colon or a question mark.  This is based on the type of field being used, but this does not occur for column titles.

I can't see a business case why there would be a need to remove the colon.  Can you enlighten us?

    Hi Craig,

Thanks for your interest on exploring the system on achieving this option.

There is no business requirement from end users for making this change. There is a customized Maximo environment 7.6.1.2 where there is no colon present on labels and they have many UI test automation scripts for identifying labels using XPath without colon.

After this environment is upgraded to 7.6.1.3 and all customization are applied, the labels are present with usual colon at the end and UI test scripts are failing because they are not able to locate the XPath.

Product team claim that colon after the label is expected behavior and previous Maximo version had customization which removed it. We plan to handle them by modifying the expected xpath in our automation test scripts to pass the regression testing and release the upgraded environment.

So, I raised this query to know on how the framework is built around this label display in UI.

    Thanks,

    Suren
