    Hello all,

Can anyone shed some light around how the licencing  works with Esri ? does every user in MAS requires an equivalent entitlement in Esri in order to use the Map Feature in MAS or Maximo Mobile ?  or do we just need one entitlement to connect MAS with Esri ?

I would highly appreciate any enlightenment around this topic please. Thanks.

@Karun Das This is an interesting question.  I have never thought about whether additional ESRI licenses are required when Maximo Spatial is installed. I have never been exposed to that on the Maximo implementation side over the past many years.

There is/was additional separately licensed seats for Maximo Spatial in 7.6.1.2 from IBM, and that was an Add-on.  In MAS 8.x it is simply an additional number of app points consumed at install to enable the Maximo Spatial capabilities. I am not aware of any additional licenses needed to pay to ESRI.  @Steven Shull or @Joao Souto may have a better answer.

Maximo Spatial works using ArcGIS REST Services (MapServer and FeatureServer) generated by ArcGIS Server/PortalEnterprise.  There is no user license required in Spatial (Spatial 7.6.1.x or MAS 8.x). As many users as can be handled by your ArcGIS server (memory, CPU, etc.) can login in and use the Maximo Spatial Map Tab.
ERSI licenses ArcGIS Server/Portal/Enterprise based on your server capacity.  The number of  CPUs on your server determines the cost of the server software.
You must determine the number of users you expect to be using ArcGIS and size the number of cpus and memory you will need on the server to accomodate your ArcGIS users and Maximo Spatial users.  ESRI has guidelines/spreadsheets to help you determin your server requirements.

I double checked this with the past and present Spatial Product Managers and they told me that what I listed was correct.

However, if you are trying to use ArcGIS Online, ESRI has a new concept of a "named user" account.

(there are some differences in portal and Arcgis Online. In theory each Maximo user needs a corresponding ArcGIS user. The call it "named user" license.
IBM is talking to Esri about this and will have a common response from both (IBM and Esri) about this "named users" licenses.)

So this is not finalized for using Maximo Spatial with ArcGIS Online.

However, we have found in the past, that ArcGIS Online is still not ready to handle large ArcGIS GeoDataBases like for large Utilities.  We almost always use ArcGIS Server to publish the MapServices and FeatureServices to interface with Maximo Spatial.  And then, there are no Maximo Spatial User licenses necessary.  At least not at this time.
