I am back with another blog in the Maximo Mobile 9.0- What’s New series . We will learn about  New Features in "Issues and Transfer"  module within Maximo Mobile 9.0 App. 

Introduction 

Maximo Mobile 'Issues and Transfer' offers a comprehensive suite of features designed to increase productivity of "Storeroom Clerk" / "Warehouse Managers" by allowing them to perform issues and transfers from the Mobile. Maximo Mobile 8.11 includes features listed below-

•Ability to create Issue Inventory Usage Records on Mobile on or offline
•Ability to Save, Open, Resume Inventory Usages (across devices)
•Ability to issue reserved items from Inventory against Work Orders and Material Requests

Persona
Issues and Transfer module is targeted towards persona 'Fred' who is a "Storeroom Clerk", "Stock clerk", "Inventory Specialist" or "Warehouse Manager" . Fred is needed to do below tasks-
  •   Receive and stock materials into inventory
  •   Pick and stage materials into inventory
  •   Issue materials into inventory
  •   Transfer materials across storerooms
  •   Ship materials from inventory
  •   Perform cycle counts
  •   Reconcile inventory counts
  •   Identify and remove obsolete inventory

With Issues and transfer application, Storeroom Clerk can issue, transfer, ship and stage materials with ease from Mobile. 

Business Need

Usually Storeroom Clerk is moving in the warehouse where there is a need to perform various activities like counting items, inspecting items, perform shipment etc.To perform tasks like issue and transfer, storeroom clerk has to return to the stationary computer/laptop. This needs a lot of time and effort . With Maximo Mobile, storeroom clerk can do such tasks from the mobile without the need to return to the system. 

New Features

With the release of version 9.0, we have introduced even more enhancements and new features which are listed below.

1. Issue Inventory Item without reservation

In the previous version, issue of only reserved items was allowed from Maximo Mobile. With the new version, now the functionality of issuing the inventory item is also available.  Let us see how it works 

  1.      Click on "Issues and Transfers" module->Select Issue       

          b. Enter Description. Notice that Storeroom is auto populated as default storeroom of the logged in user. This field is non editable. Also, usage type is set as 'ISSUE'. This field is also non-editable. After entering description, click on '+' Icon to select the items you want to issue.

c     c.  Upon clicking the '+' icon, you will notice that you get an option to add Non Reserved Items as well which is a new feature.  Select the option 'Inventory Items' to add the items without reservation from your default storeroom that need to be issued.
d.     d. You will get option to select the items( currently in your default storeroom) either by entering item details or by scanning the item. You can also add multiple line items.
e.   d.  Notice that you will be able to see the details like- Itemnum, description, default bin, commodity group, Issue Unit, Rotating Item? .

      e. You can select multiple line items and after selection you can click on the cart icon to save the record.
       f. You will get a warning to add the missing information in the line item. You will also need to enter the charge information ( either work order, asset or location)
      g. After adding the additional details, save the record
      
   h. Upon saving,  the status of Inventory Usage record will be 'ENTERED' You can change the status to 'COMPLETE' or 'SHIPPED'  or 'STAGED' after this.
      
2.   2. Transfer Inventory Items 
   . Use case- As a Storeroom Clerk, you  need to transfer items to replenish stock from the Central Storeroom, so you use Issues and Transfers module with Maximo Mobile 9.0 application 
      a. Open Issues and Transfers module ->select Transfer option. Notice that the storeroom is defaulted to 'CENTRAL' which is the default storeroom of the user and Usage Type is defaulted to 'TRANSFER'. Enter Usage description and add the transfer lines. 
    
    b.   You can either save the record and revisit it from the Inventory Usage option or continue to add Inventory Items available from storeroom ( currently your default storeroom). You will see list of the items present in your storeroom. You can either enter the item number or scan the item and select the lines.
      
    c. Select the items you want to transfer and click on the Cart icon on top right.
      
      d. Enter the additional details required.
   
      e. Below are the details of the required and non-required fields in the line item.
          Required-  
         Quantity to transfer, To site ( defaulted as default site of the logged in user) , To storeroom 
          Non Required-
          To Bin
      f. Select the storeroom to which you want to transfer the items and save the record
    
   g. After saving the record, the status of the inventory usage will be Entered. To complete the transfer, click on 'Change Status' icon and select complete transfer. 
      
     3. Staging the Transfer Items
    Storeroom Clerk can prepare the package for transfer in a staging bin so, the status can be changed to 'STAGED'  You will get a screen to define the staging bin.
      
       
     If the items need to be shipped then, status can be changed to 'SHIPPED' . If the items need to be transferred , then change the status to 'Transfer complete' 
     4.   Shipment Transfer
       a.    Previously saved records in status 'ENTERED' or 'STAGED' can be accessed from Inventory Usage Records option.
       
      
      b. Select the record and change the status to 'SHIP'. Enter details for shipment like shipment date, expected receipt date/time, carrier, packing slip , to the attention of, ship to and to site.
       
      
     
  
      c. After entering all the details, click on SHIP button. The status will be changed to SHIPPED
   
      Conclusion
     Issues and transfers provides an easy and seamless way for storeroom clerks to perform the tasks like issue, transfer, staging and shipment of items from the mobile. It saves a lot of time and effort and provides a user friendly way to do the storeroom related tasks.
