Maximo Application Suite 8.10, generally available March 28, 2023 provides entitlement to IBM Cognos Analytics cartridge on CP4D.
The integration to Manage will allow MAS users direct access to the powerful dashboards and reports that are produced within the modernized Cognos Analytics 11.2 solution. Additional integrations to other elements of the Suite are planned for future releases, but the entitlement covers use across the suite. MAS will strive to always provide compatibility support for the latest Cognos Analytics version.
There are no additional AppPoints that are consumed with the Installation of Cognos Analytics, the entitlement provided with MAS does however limit the usage of Cognos to only be used with Maximo Application Suite data, as well as limits the number of Administrative Users to 3.
There are 2 levels of MAS user access supported which map directly to established Cognos User types:
· The first is the MAS Administrator which will map to the Cognos Administrator user and provides full access and rights to create new dashboards and reports.
· The second is a Limited or Base user in MAS which aligns to the Cognos Viewer. This user has rights to consume and view the dashboards and reports made available to them within their organization.
For additional use of Cognos Analytics with MAS beyond the 3 Administrative users, either a Cognos Administrator, Cognos Explorer or Cognos User entitlement is required depending on the level of access needed. See Table 1 below for a list of permissions associated with each user type. To extend usage beyond MAS to additional data sources, an additional Administrator license and either an Explorer or User license is required. See Table 2 below for a list of relevant Cognos Analytics part numbers.
INSTALLATION
The installation for Cognos within MAS 8.10 is included in the ansible playbook. Post installation, Manage will require some manual configuration which is a fully documented process and will be more automated in future releases. MAS users will be able to launch from Manage directly to the Cognos workspace and MAS users will be synched from Manage with the Cognos CP4D environment through a Manage Security group and Cron Task.
