We have been working on a number of big features that are finally getting close to release. This is the first in a series of releases that will add significant new capabilities and enhancements to our line item table and summary page analytics.
Multi-level Grouping
We now support nested groups! To any level of nesting, limited only by your tolerance for expanding and collapsing rows . This is intended to provide an interactive pivot table like experience, where you choose how to summarize line items and can control the level of detail you expose, all while still being able to edit values and insert/delete budget lines. While nested grouping is the primary enhancement here, most of you will also notice the revamped and enhanced table styling. We heard from a number of you on our previous table styling; we hope you will find this an improvement.

Editable Group Headers
Grouping is great for summarizing a bunch of individual line items into a single row - which is very useful when you want to hide detail and just look at the summary. It's not so great when you want to edit line items - like when you're grouped by Account and most of your budget mostly consists of a single line per account except for all those generated by the Labor tab. In that case, you have to expand each group to get at the line items - which is okay when you have a bunch of line items in the group, but not so cool when it's just a single line item. To get around that limitation and make grouping useful even when editing budget, we made it possible to enter values in the group header for groups containing a single row. You can tell which groups contain a single row as we show their period values in italics. Basically, if it's italicized, you can type on it!

Summary Page Layouts
We recently introduced some changes to the summary analytics page that gave you more control over the dimensions slice by and compare to in the heatmap and waterfall charts. Here's another drop in the bucket of enhancements we have planned for the summary page. You can now switch between different display layouts with the click of a button. Choose from:
- 2-up stack (heatmap + trendchart over waterfall)
- full stack (heatmap / trend chart / waterfall)
- heatmap / trend chart stack
- heatmap / waterfall stack

Enhanced Integration with Cost Transparency
And last but not least, we've added the ability to publish Labor, Contract, and Asset line item details to Cost Transparency.

As I mentioned at the start, this is just the first in a series of releases that will deliver significant enhancements to our table editor and summary page analytics (and those aren't the only things we're working on ). Stay tuned for the next installment...
