    Hi Ajmal,

It seems you are looking for assistance from the community on information about KPIs.  I am going to move this to a location that gains more visibility on community from a broader audience.  I will move this to TBM Studio.

    @Ed Hayman @Chris Van Wesep

Hi guys, would you be able to help answer this question?  I'm hoping other TM practitioners will comment to, but hoping either you might have something useful or could tag someone else who may be able to help answer Ajmal.  We've got this under TBM Studio, but as there is no Product Marketing Manager for TBM Studio, and I feel like the KPIs are a little more suited to the CT product I figured I'd start with you two.

    Thanks,
    Deb

    Ajmal,

The TBM Council Standards committee is working on TBM Standards.  We have a metrics framework that addresses very similar metadata about KPIs that you discuss in your original question.

    ConceptPurpose
MetricSpecific name of a metric.  NOTE:  Not all metrics would be used by an organization.  Depends on organization goals and maturity.  Metrics may change over time.
Metric TypeType of TBM metrics with the recommended values:  Cost, Units, Performance, Business Impact
TBM LayerIdentifies which "layer" the metric belongs in the TBM Business Value framework.  Recommended layers:  Enterprise, Business Capability, Projects, Apps & Services, IT Resource Towers, Cost Pools
TBM CategoryWithin the specific TBM business value layer, identifies if the metric is specific to a single category within the layer.   For example:  the metric "Customer Satisfaction" might reside in the layer = "Business Capability" and is specific to "Customer Service"
CategoryA specific area of related metrics.  For example, financial metrics or project related metrics.  Recommended categories:  Business Innovation, Capacity, External Customers, Financials, Internal Customers, IT Employees, Operations, Projects, Quality of Service, Risk, Vendors
Primary PersonaWhich IT role is primarily interested in the metric.  Recommended categories:  App/Service Owner, BRM, CIO, I&O, IT Finance, PMO
AudienceIs the metric primarily focused for internal IT use and management or is it a potential metric to share with external organizations (e.g. business consumers).  Recommended categories:  Internal, External
MaturityRough estimation of the maturity of related metrics.  Recommended categories:  1-Good, 2-Better, 3-Best
Rationale / Actions to Improve The primary reason for tracking and managing the metric.  Ideally speaks to the actions that would be taken if not in an expected range.
Calculation Specific definition of the formula required to calculate the metric.
Data RequiredUnderlying data required to support the metric calculation.  Should identify the source of where the data can be found.

Let me know if this is of interest to you.

    Thanks,
    Ed
