Purpose of the Workflow:  Reconfigure SNMP community string on devices where we lost SNMP connectivity

Description: when we are monitoring a device in SevOne and the SNMP community string changes, we need to reconfigure the new community string to keep monitoring that device, however most of the times we don't realise or we forget to update SevOne with the community string, meaning that we won't be able to detect any performance issue because we lost visibility of the device.

In this workflow we check the running configuration of the device to get the configured community string and updating SevOne with the correct configuration, automating the process and minimizing the time we waste not monitoring the device.

List of requirements:

  • Rapid Network Automation Version: 1.1 or newer
  • SevOne Version: 6.6.0 or newer
  • Environment Required:
    • NMS Credentials
    • SSH Credentials

Setup:

  • Import workflow
  • Configure SevOne and SSH credentials
  • Create RNA API gateway to listen for the NMS alerts
  • Create SevOne alert policy that triggers RNA API gateway
