The team is excited to introduce version 7 of IBM SevOne. IBM SevOne is an innovative application-centric, multi-cloud network observability solution, that is designed to help IT teams turn insights into action to manage and automate multivendor end-to-end networks across enterprise, communication, and managed service provider environments.

IBM SevOne 7.0 seamlessly integrates hybrid cloud infrastructure performance metrics and network flow records into a unified tool, complemented by a low-code/no-code automation engine. This allows network teams to monitor and understand their network performance from an application performance perspective, ensuring critical applications and services meet their service level objectives.

In this release, we are incorporating world-class observability technology, users will now be able to gain insight, assure, and troubleshoot Kubernetes-based infrastructure via eBPF. We’ve also shown our commitment to security and scalability by providing users with containerized deployments.

With SevOne 7.0 you can get deep insights into your public and private cloud infrastructure in a single tool allowing you to create several different workflows and reduce data silos across different teams in your organization.

We are introducing a new stash feature, your own personal space to store and retrieve visualizations. Users can also utilize the new Instant Graph workspace for ad-hoc multivariant analysis outside of standard reports. Also, Device Manager is now available on Data Insight to easily create, read, update, and delete devices.

Finally, we have significantly extended our support for Microsoft Azure performance monitoring.

To benefit from these updates, contact your account manager, tech sales, or customer care team to upgrade to the latest release.

Application-centric network observability

Kubernetes monitoring via eBPF

Many modern applications are containerized, operating on cloud-native infrastructure. Gain visibility and observe Kubernetes network infrastructure by leveraging eBPF technology.

  • Visibility into k8s network traffic with RedHat Network Observability Operator. Also available on any k8s or Linux system.
  • Instant visibility into flows between
    • Pod, Namespace, Node
    • IP, Port, Protocol
  • ‘One Click’ deploy via RedHat Marketplace available.
  • Per conversation RTT/latency – Get the latency for every conversation that takes place. This is a crucial aspect in the world of application-centric observability.

k8s traffic insights – Gain near real-time visibility into labeled traffic between containers

Hybrid Multicloud Network Visibility

Azure plugin expansion

IBM SevOne 7.0 introduces key new functionalities to the Azure plugin that give our users the ability to monitor several new resources in their Azure environment. Users on SevOne 7.0 can now monitor the following new resources in Azure:

  • Virtual machines
  • Virtual machine scale sets and Scale set instances
  • Load balancers
  • VPN gateway
  • ExpressRoute gateway
  • ExpressRoute circuits
  • ExpressRoute direct
  • Storage accounts (Blob/File/Queue/Table)

In addition to the already available VMs and VM Scale Set reports, SevOne 7.0 ships with several new out-of-the-box reports that take a user from integration to insights in minutes!

Collect data at a fraction of the cost:

By leveraging the newly introduced Data Plane API by Microsoft and partnering with them, SevOne 7.0 achieves a remarkable 50x efficiency improvement in API calls, enabling seamless monitoring of large Azure deployments without hitting throttling limits. This scalable and efficient data collection mechanism reduces the number of API calls to Azure, making it a cost-effective solution for observing cloud performance in large environments.

Usability and management improvements

Shift towards container-based architecture

IBM SevOne 7.0 now has container-based architecture, delivering a frictionless experience. Here is what it means to you:

  • Security - Commit to world-class security leveraging Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based containers. Read-only containers in the field – limit tampering by bad actors. Removed many touchpoints across the network between peers, reducing the attack surface of the entire product.
  • Easily consume upgrades - Significant reduction in upgrade times and enhanced flexibility – future upgrades in as quick as 90 seconds. Ensure minimal disruption to operations. More rapid adoption of new features and product updates.
  • Quickly expand capacity - Easily expand cluster capacity. Automatically and rapidly add new peers. Using APIs to add capacity via new peers ensures seamless scalability.

Advanced visualization improvements:

IBM SevOne 7.0 introduces the new Instant Graphs workspace for ad-hoc multivariant analysis. Speed up explorations and investigations using Data Insight’s expanded resource capabilities. Quickly pivot the resources across multiple charts for easier visual analysis and share across teams.

IBM SevOne 7.0 also introduces the new Stash feature that allows you to copy visualizations from Reports and Instant Graphs into a staging area we call the Stash. Using the new Stash feature build your exploration/investigation story by adding visualizations to a new or existing reports.
